Care and Maintenance

Care and Maintenance of SKT knives:

All knives ship from my shop with a nontoxic wax-based protective coating.  It will wear away quickly with normal use.  Regular cleaning and maintenance is critical to prolong the knife's appearance and service life. 

Cleaning:

Clean the blade and handle with mild soap and warm water.  Do not soak.  Dry thoroughly.  After dry, apply a protective coating to the blade (I use food-grade oil or wax) and handle (I use Odie's) and lightly buff off.

A kydex sheath should be cleaned as well, especially if exposed to sand, grit, mud, blood, water, or condensation.  Clean inside and out with mild soap and room temperature/warm (not hot) water and dry thoroughly before inserting the blade.
